Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of the acceptance of differences on marital satisfaction in newlywed couples.
Methods: To achieve this purpose, 160 couples were recruited, and an online survey was conducted using ADCRS and K-CSI. The collected dyadic data were analyzed using APIM to calculate actor effects and partner effects.
Results: First, a significant difference was found between men and women in the acceptance of differences and marital satisfaction. Second, the acceptance of differences of newlywed couples had an actor effect on marital satisfaction. Third, the partner effect was significant only in women for the relationship between the acceptance of differences and marital satisfaction.
Conclusions: The results of this study suggest that it is more effective to focus on enhancing each spouse's acceptance of differences, especially the wife's acceptance of differences during couple therapy. Therefore, it is expected that relationship education and couple therapy experts will plan and use strategies and techniques to promote acceptance of differences between newlyweds.
